Our school
Rietberg Montessori School is a state-accredited day school operating under the auspices of the Department of Education of Canton Zurich. The Montessori curriculum fully covers the curriculum requirements of Canton Zurich and guarantees transfer to secondary school.
Rietberg Montessori School is also licensed by the Association Montessori (Switzerland) AM(S).
The activities offered to the children in our Montessori classrooms are based on the needs of children and encourage self-motivated and joyful learning. The materials developed by Dr Montessori support the psychic and physical needs of children at every stage of their development. With the guidance of the teachers and within the framework of a carefully prepared classroom environment, the children lay the foundation for their life-long learning process.
The aim of our school is to help the children become independent, self-confident and self-reliant human beings with a strong community spirit.
Kindergarten
At Rietberg Montessori School, there are four mixed-age kindergarten groups of children from 3 to 6 years old. Qualified Montessori staff teach the children. Tuition covers instruction in both German and English.
Elementary school
Elementary school is divided into two mixed age group levels. There are currently three lower elementary classes of 6- to 9-year-old children and two upper elementary classes of 9- to 12-year-old children.
Contact with parents
Our teachers place great emphasis on the importance of regular contact with parents.
In agreement with the teachers, the parents are always welcome to visit classes or – especially with the younger children – to accompany group excursions. Parent-teacher conferences and meetings with the principal are always possible by appointment.
Moreover, the school offers parents various opportunities to find out more about the Montessori Method, the structure and organization of the school and other current topics through parents’ evenings, a “round table”, parents’ further education, and workshops.
Several annual events foster a sense of community between children, parents and the Rietberg Montessori team: Childrens Playday, Lantern Parade, Carol Singing, Open Day, Theater Performances.
