PARENTS' WORKSHOP

TEACHING KIDS TO CODE

Dear Parents

At the initiative of Mr. Steffen Foldager, father of two children at the Rietberg Montessori School, we would like to invite you to the workshop “Teaching Kids to Code”. Anyone who has ever programmed themselves will confirm how fascinating and exciting this experience is and how much fun it is. Programs that allow children to learn programming have been around for a long time. These programs, which children always take up with great enthusiasm, foster a range of skills in children, including logical thinking, independent problem-solving and resilience.

This workshop will give you the opportunity to gain experience in this area yourself and discover how you can work with your children using these programs.

Best regards
Your Rietberg Montessori School

Workshop: Teaching kids to code

Join Steffen Foldager for a workshop on how we as parents might teach coding (programming) to our kids at home. The workshop has three parts:

In the first part we will discuss
- What is coding, and do we still need it?
- How can we teach our kids?
- How can we find good materials?
In the interactive part we will get our hands dirty and try it ourselves.
Finally we'll discuss and share experiences.

This workshop is intended mainly for kindergarten/primary parents with little programming experience, but all are welcome. The workshop will be held in English and limited to 20 participants. Participants will need to bring a laptop or a tablet for the practical session. Instructions will be sent in advance.

When?: Tuesday 08.04.2025, 19:00 - 21:30
Where?: Seestrasse 135, Classroom PA, mezzanine floor
